Our investment in Australia is long-term and far-reaching; helping to build the sovereign industrial base Australia needs to meet its strategic challenges. With over 20 years playing a central role in Australia’s Defence community, we currently support 1,500 direct and indirect jobs nationwide, award over $100 million per year to Australian suppliers and, since 2011 have committed over $2.8m in research sponsorships, charities and social programs. Career Defining Opportunities

Our people are enabled to develop their leadership, technical and personal skills in a variety of ways. Graduate, apprentice and intern programs provide early career opportunities. We also encourage STEM in schools both as a strategic partner to the Aviation Australia Aerospace Gateway to Industry Schools Program and by funding students and teachers to attend Space Camp at the US Space and Rocket Centre in Alabama each year. And our NGA Triton Scholarship supports a STEM student from Katherine High School to complete their final two years of study there.

We are committed to generating tangible opportunities for Australian organisations to deliver solutions that meet Australia’s unique needs. And, through our participation in Defence’s Global Supply Chain Program, we connect SMEs to our worldwide network, unlocking meaningful export opportunities to US programs.

Bringing Advanced Technologies to Australia

Northrop Grumman has a proud history of leveraging advanced global technologies to increase capability in Australia.

For example, the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability was developed in a trilateral partnership with the US, Australia and the UK. Central to AUKUS Pillar 2, the DARC Site 1 ground system in Exmouth, Western Australia is the first of its type in the world.

Also, the MQ-4C Triton provides next level uncrewed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities across the Indo-Pacific. With aircraft operating from RAAF Tindal and supported by teams there and at RAAF Edinburgh we are leveraging the considerable knowledge and experience gained from supporting U.S. Navy Triton operations.

Investing in Australian Innovation

We partner with leading Australian Universities and research institutions to accelerate innovation, develop critical skills, and strengthen the talent pipeline for the defence sector.

As an industry partner in the $370 million Trailblazer Universities Program, we work with leading Australian universities to fast-track the development and commercialisation of key defence technologies in areas such as Counter Hypersonics and Hollow Core Optical Fibres.

We also provide a range of education opportunities. In partnership with the American Australian Association, for example, we have invested over $700,000 to date in Graduate Education Scholarships enabling 11 Australian researchers to study in the US in priority fields such as Supply Chain Management and Quantum.

Our Second Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2024 – 2026 is central to our approach to indigenous engagement and catalogues our commitment to promoting cultural awareness and in all aspects of our work; particularly through improved employment and procurement opportunities.

As part of our established relationship with Yalari, we sponsor two Indigenous students from regional and remote communities to receive a full boarding school scholarship for their secondary education.

We work with Legacy on their mission to ensure that the partners and children of veterans who gave their lives or health in recognised military service can fully realise their potential.
